Obituary for Gerardus "Gerry" Van Kuik
(Retired from General Motors 30+ years service)
Passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Tuesday September 20th, 2016 at the age of 79.
Dearly loved dad of John and his partner Lynn of Barrie, Regina Whorms and her husband Hal of Pickering, Stephen of Oshawa, Elizabeth McCutcheon and her husband Craig of Woodbridge. Fondly remembered by his wife Anne.
Loved Opa of Alexandria, William, Aryanna, Claude and Malcolm. Dear brother of Theo, Henk, John, Riet, Bill, Joe, Ben, Nick, Casey, and the late Andrew. Predeceased by his parents Jan and Els Van Kuik.
Visitation at Barnes Memorial Funeral Home, 5295 Thickson Rd. N. Whitby on Saturday (September 24th) from 12 00 Noon Saturday until time of Funeral Service and celebration of Life in the Barnes Chapel Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
Gerry was active in the Whitby Senior’s Jubilee Choir and an avid soccer fan and supporter of the KNVB, loved music and playing his accordion. His commitment to fitness was witnessed year after year as he scaled the CN Tower, even in his most senior years. More than this, a devoted family man who treasured his time with his children and grandchildren.
