Jacqueline Marie "Jackie" Banks (Leclerc)
Jacqueline 'Jackie' (nee Leclerc) Banks, a resident of the Court at Brooklin, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on August 30, 2015. She was 83.

Born on April 7, 1932 in Verdun, Quebec, she was the first daughter of Eva Seguin and Laureat Leclerc.
Fondly referred to as 'Mawsey' by her sons Bob, Terry, Jack, Joe, Dave and late husband Donald Francis Banks, Mrs. Banks had a long and varied career, first as a switchboard operator for Bell Telephone in Montreal in the mid to late 1940s. From there she moved to Markham, Ontario where she lived with her aunt Delores Deverell and took employment as an office worker in Toronto.

She married Donald on St. Patrick's Day, 1951 in Pickering, Ontario. They had six sons during their residency in Whitby from 1955 to 1979. Throughout much of the 70s, Jackie was a friendly face and voice at the Whitby J. O. Ruddy Hospital reception desk.

In 1978, Don and Jackie left Whitby when they purchased and operated the former Miller General Store in Haliburton, Ontario and ran it under their name until Don's death in July 1995. Jackie sold the store at that time and moved to Lindsay, Ontario where she lived until 2007, when she moved back to the Oshawa-Whitby area, eventually taking up residence at the Court in Brooklin.

She is survived by loving sons Robert (Patti Saunders) of San Antonio, Texas; Terry (Linda Banks) of Kitchener-Waterloo; Joe (Diane Banks) and David (Sandra Faulkner) of Oshawa. She is predeceased by son Jack (Diane Banks) of Oshawa who passed away in 1996, sister Hugette Leclerc of Mississauga and brother Gaston of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

She is survived by dear sister Pierrette (Shirley) Cartier of Mississauga, her brother Paul (Carol De L'Etoile) and loving grandchildren Craig, Jaimie, Rikki, Will, Krista, Andrew, Harley, Julie, Laura, Andrea, Greg, Scott and Shannon. She has one great grandson, Ethan.

Visitation is being held at Barnes Memorial Funeral Home 5295 Thickson Rd. N. Whitby 905-655-3662 on Thursday September 3rd from 6-7 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 7:00 p.m.
