Condolence: Doug Lines' leadership and untiring devotion to duty
was an inspiration to CGA students and members in the
London chapter and beyond. His contributions resulted
in a strong and vibrant professional accounting community.
Not only did I have the pleasure of sharing volunteer
CGA activities but also worked with him at Revenue Canada
in the seventies. His passing marks the end of an era
in the accounting profession.

Condolence: Doug and Fay spent many years at Trinity United Church and they were so loved and very hard workers. When it was time to move closer to family, so many people were saddened because of our loss. Doug was a genius with financial matters and Fay was a leader with the UCW. I find it hard to focus on Doug only as in my mind they were always a couple, always together. Joanne and Lois were brought up at Trinity as well and were on the receiving end of love and devotion. My mind has many good memories of this family and that is the way that it should be. Sincere condolences.

Condolence From: Rob Stephenson
Condolence: I walked through the doors of Trinity United for the first time the first Sunday of January, 1993. Doug was the first person I met. He was warm, welcoming and genuine. I never forgot that moment. He was a wonderful man. We all miss him and Fay at Trinity. Now, they are reunited in Heaven together. My sincere condolences to all the family.

Condolence From: Rev. Paul Browning
Condolence: I had the pleasure of being Doug and Faye's pastor until they moved away. Doug was an honourable man whose personal and public lives were the same. He was a stickler for details but could also see the big picture. He supported massive change at Trinity because he wanted his church to have new life. And while a prudent man, he could also be a creative risk taker. He was the first church treasurer I knew who invested the church's money from the sale of the manse in stocks instead of GICs. He grew the manse money from $135,000.00 to $190,000.00, money which enabled Trinity to upgrade its building in crucial ways.
Doug was also a firm believer in respect. He held to his positions firmly, but believed strongly that other people had the right to theirs. After strong debates, he was able to agree to disagree.
I will never forget Doug and Faye. They will always be part of the magic which is Trinity United Church Community Centre.

Condolence From: Ron Spurgeon, FCPA - FCGA
Condolence: Doug was a great inspiration to me in the early 1970's to pursue my accounting studies and to graduate as a CGA in 1974. Doug further encouraged me to become involved in CGA affairs - including being a London board member, then chairperson. Doug further encouraged me to run for Ontario CGA office - I did so and became a Governor in 1982 the terms of which extended to 1991.
When I was a student Doug was always a member of the team
which supervised the examinations.
Doug was a person who said grace at most CGA dinner functions and became known as "Mr. CGA London".
It was an extreme honour to have been involved in CGA and with Doug over the years.
I will remember Doug always as a kind gentleman in all ways.
I will not be able to attend the memorial service in February but want you to know of my tremendous respect
for Doug.

Condolence: Dear Joanne and Lois and families.
So sorry to read about your Father in the London Free Press this morning... Brought back many memories.. Did you know that he was my mother's boss at the Income Tax before I was born? Then their friendship at Trinity and Home and School from Prince Charles and Beck.. Our families have been intertwined many years. I recall a bus trip from Trinity which both your parents were on. We went by Simcoe/Paris and your Dad was telling us stories of his air force days. He was so attentive to your Mother.. Kind man!.. I'm sure my mom and dad and your mom and dad are having a wonderful catching up time..
Blessings.
