Hi Jody,
Sorry for the loss of your Dad. Keeping you in prayer this week. Billy was one of my Mom's favorite cousins who sadly passed last week also - Nov. 5. I recall stories when kids where they would go roller skating on a Saturday. Hope they are together now and doing the same.
In the early 80's the Head Lake cottage amount of work and dis-repair overwhelmed Billy who was really the only person taking care of things about this time. He was always the first to help someone, never asking for help himself. Glenna, Martin, Laurel, myself and number of others helped organize a big work weekend to help out. This meant the world to Billy where he could then keep at a functional maintenance level.
He also gave me a job one summer at the McBain, Carmichael Sheppard Land Surveyors office to work in his crew. "Wallow in the Hollow" is what he would say after a good rain storm where we'd be working in the mud, but always cheerful no matter the conditions or situation put before him.
I cherish these and other fond memories of Billy.
Sincerely,
Robert Grant

Dear Jody,
Bill gave me my first job in surveying a number of decades ago, when their office (with Mr. McBain) was on Sheppard Avenue at Yonge Street. I recall that era very well. After months of working in the field, he assigned me to the office to study and learn drafting as well as their brand new (first) surveying computer system. In honour of that day, I wore a suit to the office. Bill's response was, "Jeff, what did you do? Mug a dead clown?" I use his joke to this day, but with proper attribution to Bill of course.
I am sure he will be missed.
Sincerely yours,
Jeff Talbot

Hi Jody, I just want to share with you my deepest condolences but also a thank you to Uncle Billy for being the wonderful person that he was his whole life through and for the positive impact he had on me and my life. He was such a kind and loving person, always warm and caring but always in a natural, down to earth way. As a boy growing up, his influence on me when we were all together at Head Lake was so great, but I only see it on reflection. As a positive male role model I really think he helped to shape who I am today as a person and as a father; his kindness, his humour, his love and respect for family and friends, and his stoicism in the face of life challenges. I always really admired Uncle Billy and hope that I carry a small part of him with me and that, in some ways, it passes on to my son over time. I've begun to think more about all the influences we have on each other and how they make us who we are and I'm so grateful for my time spent at Head Lake with your Dad, my Dad, Uncle Brian, Poppi, Uncle Bill, my Mom, Gaga, Auntie Jean, your Mom, my sister, you of course, and more. Somehow, we're all still here, still together even as many of us have passed, we're always somehow still here. I like to think about it that way anyway, that's how it feels to me.
I'm sure you have lots of friends and family supporting you there now, I just want to say I'm thinking about you too. And Uncle Billy, I love you and I will miss you very much.
