Obituary

Crichton, David George

Retired Detective Sergeant (150), Toronto Police Service - 32 years service.

Passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Thursday January 3rd, 2019 at the age of 86.
Predeceased in 2016 by Norma (nee Braithwaite), his wife of 63 years.

Much loved dad of David and his wife Violet of Scarborough, Kim Stainsby and her husband Mark of Brooklin and James and his wife Dasza of Nestleton.

Grandfather of David (Samantha), Nicholas (Paige), Julia, Natasha (Alex) and Monique. Predeceased by his parents James Crichton and Annie (Whyte) Crichton.

Survived by his sister Betty Julian (late Nelson) and sister-in-law Ivy (late Bill). Predeceased by his brother Alec (Doris), and sisters Margaret (Reg), Mary (Don), Jean (Cliff), Ruth (Bob) and Anna (Bill).

Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and their families.

Dad was a well-trained husband, at the ready for any job that needed doing or any adventure that Norma wanted to take. Together, they thoroughly enjoyed their 25 years of retirement in Picton. In keeping with his “don’t fuss over me” attitude, a private family cremation has taken place.

In memory of David, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army or a charity of your choice.

25 years ago we stayed with Norma and Dave for what was supposed to be two nights at their amazing B and B and ended up staying for over a week, and of course eventually we moved to Picton. They became good friends and actually ended up buying our house when we had to leave. So many lovely dinners shared, and a never to be forgotten experience when a bat flew ever their dining room table one evening. How lucky were we to have met them both.Norma ever the gracious and charming lady, and David a truly lovely man. Mary Mundy

Dave and Norma were our neighbours at 96 Union Street here in Picton. They were wonderful neighbours and we shared some interesting conversations over the years. They even bought one of my paintings. I too was in corrections, the Penitentiary Service, and we shared our experiences on several occasions. He was a true gentleman and both my wife and I extend our deepest sympathies. God bless, Tom and Lita Field
