Obituary for L. Suzanne "Sue" Hickey

Hickey, L. Suzanne (Sue)
(January 17, 1961 – June 26, 2018)

Our dear Sue passed away peacefully on June 26, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Beloved wife of Michael and loving mother of Laura (Tom) and Jennifer (Chris).

Sue was the embodiment of kindness and generosity in providing love, care and support to others. A devoted and loving wife. A patient and understanding mother. A selfless daughter as she cared for aging parents. A loving sister and sister-in-law who always stayed in close touch and truly loved all her nieces and nephews and their children. Sue was a loyal and empathetic friend who made the most of the good times and could always be counted on for support when times were tough. She was a tireless and gracious host who made every get-together a memorable event. A lover of design, décor, fresh flowers and music. A very special friend to the many animals in her life, especially her best little boy Grover. Sue was also a faithful Catholic who battled cancer with remarkable dignity and grace. Sue inspired all who loved her.

Our family would like to thank Dr. Rothenstein and the entire team at the Durham Regional Cancer Centre for providing exceptional care to Sue.

Visitation at Barnes Memorial Funeral Home, 5295 Thickson Rd. N. Whitby on Tuesday (July 3rd) from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 91 Ribblesdale Drive Whitby on Wednesday morning (July 4th) at 10:30 a.m.

Interment will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Whitby.

In memory of Sue, memorial donations to Lakeridge Health Oshawa (Cancer Care) would be appreciated by the family.
