Obituary for Diane Marguerite Strickland (Plante)

Diane Strickland Dec 3, 1948 – July 5, 2018

Diane Strickland (nee Plante) passed away peacefully on July 5, 2018 in her 69th year, after an incredibly courageous battle with Cancer.

Loving mother to Melissa (Joseph) and Gordon David, Grandmother to Mia, Carter, Keegan, Remi, Ocean, Leilsala, Izaiah, Ashton, Keiyana, and Brooklyn and Great Grandmother to Layla-Hope. Diane is survived by her sisters Carole (Jack), Helen, Lisa (Wayne) and brothers Robert and Michael.

Cherished Auntie Dee Dee to Nelson, Jennifer, Rene and Ashley (Chris). Diane will be missed by her furbaby – Lucy Potato.

Diane’s professional career was in finance, but there was more to Diane than her career. She loved doing puzzles, bingo, dancing, her daily soaps, CNN, anything gold, independence and freedom to do as she pleased. Once she put her mind to something she committed 100%. Diane believed in chasing her dreams and being happy.

One of Diane’s favourite pastimes was preparing for Christmas and shopping for presents for her family all year long. Her artistic talents include painting, gardening and crocheting. Diane had an incredible zest for life, she welcomed each day with appreciation, enthusiasm and love. Diane always chose peaceful resolutions to life’s problems, her strength is that of legends and her spirit as big as the stars above.

Diane will be lovingly remembered in the hearts of many family and friends.

The family is very thankful to the team of doctors – Dr. Fischman, Dr. Shapiro and Dr. Horvath and the team of nurses at North York General Hospital for their great care.
A celebration of life for family and friends is planned for Saturday July 21
Udora Community Centre
24 Victoria Road, at 2pm
Udora, Ontario.
