White, Garnet William
Garnet passed away at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on the morning of Thursday September 21, 2017 at the age of 85. He was born in Minesing, Ontario and resided most of his life in Whitby.
Devoted husband of Ruth White for 62 years and much loved father of Lucy of Toronto, Dan and wife Wendy of Cambridge and Judy and husband Rodney of Toronto.
Dear grandfather of Samantha (Bobby), Garnet, Grace, James and Amanda (Jarrett). Great grandfather of Alexis, Avery and one-on the-way.
Dear brother of Wayne and wife Barb of Oshawa, and Darlene and husband Art of Port Hope. Predeceased by sister Edith.
Garnet will be fondly remembered by his extended family and many friends.
Garnet was a dedicated community volunteer, as a member of Whitby’s volunteer fire department and the Whitby Lions Club. Family was his everything. His happy place was at his beloved cottage on Three Mile Lake sitting beside Ruth, puttering around in his workshop or pulling the grandchildren around the lake on the tube.
Visitation will be at Barnes Memorial Funeral Home, 5295 Thickson Rd. N. Whitby from 1:00 p.m. Tuesday (September 26th) until time of celebration of life service in the Barnes Chapel Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
