Passed away peacefully at Ajax-Pickering Hosptial on March 17th, 2017 at the age of 88. Beloved husband of Gloria for nearly 67 years. Loving dad of David, Philip and Lisa (D’Arcy O’Brien) of Toronto. Cherished Papa of Alexander Dutton (deceased), Rachel Simon (Carl), Taylor Dutton and Cory May. Great-grandfather of Liliana Simon. Dear brother of Stacey Dutton and wife Doris, predeceased by his sister Marion Ferris (late Bill).

Adored uncle and great uncle to his many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nehews. Friend, colleague and mentor to many, Don was an award-winning reporter and news photographer and the recipient of two National Newspaper Awards. He dedicated the last 33 years of his career to the Toronto Star, and his retirement to fulfilling his lifelong dream of building and flying his own airplane.
