Our Dear Friend Pat

Many of my fondness memories are from our visits to the Morrissey cottage on Jack Lake. I can vividly picture Pat (and Mary) walking down the driveway to welcome us with open arms as our family grew from our first golden retriever to our son Aaron. Pat was always eager to pilot the boat while we learned to waterski, tested our abilities at tubing or just took us on a tour around the lake. Together we sat around countless bonfires, admired the stars above, celebrated the building of a new dock, paddled the boat that ran out of gas, saw the best northern lights show ever and marvelled at the glow of the evening sun slipping below the horizon from the dock.

Around the dinner table or while sipping a beer on the dock he loved to recount stories about growing up in Ireland, his family home and farm in Ballycoe and the path that eventually led him to Canada. He enthusiastically told us how the Morrissey farm stretched from the sea to the sky. He  had the unique capacity to make people feel instantly comfortable with his wondrous gift of the gab, his playful personality and wonderful sense of humour and quick Irish wit.

We will miss you dearly Pat. So thankful for all those wonderful memories that have enriched our lives.

To Mary, Cora, Amanda, Caitlin and Michael, Craig and Al, our very deepest of sympathies.

Love, Laurie, John and Aaron
