Treen, Garnet Elmer
April 22, 1943 - February 27, 2017
Passed away at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, Supportive Care Unit in his 74th year after a courageous and long fought battle with cancer. Predeceased by his parents Elmer (1991) and Dorothea (1994).
Beloved father of Barry (Tammy), Travis (Karen), Clinton (Chad) and Tanya (Bob). Remembered fondly by their mother Edwina Strong. Much loved grandfather of Shawn, Dustin, Josh, Kodiack, Amber and Denika. Survived and forever loved by siblings Jim (late Pat), Vivian Newland, Dianne Precoor (John), Norm (Pam), June Hingston (Brian), Pat Annis (Gary) as well as many nieces and nephews. Garnet’s family wish to express our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all the nurses and staff of the supportive care unit 4F as well as our brother Jim for bringing Garnet home December 13th from New Westminster B.C. allowing us all to visit and have our final goodbyes, as they say Jim was his brothers keeper to the end.
As per Garnet’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held at a future date. If desired, donations in Garnet’s name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
