Obituary for Dorothy May Fishley (Hall)

Dorothy passed away peacefully in her sleep, at her home on February 18, 2017, in her 93rd year.

A life time resident of Brooklin, born May 7th, 1924, to Leslie and Mabel Hall. She was married to the love of her life, Walter (2007) for 59 years.

Cherished Mother of Don (Rosemarie), June and her fiancé Ralph, (Kathy). Loving Grandma to Derek (Kailah), and Jim (Melissa) Pearson. Sadly, missed by brother & sister-in-law’s, Jim, Donna, and Eunice Rahm, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews, extended family and friends, her dear friend Eleanor, and of course her cat “Lucky”.

Dorothy worked in her later teens at GM, and was one of the many ladies that worked at the ammunition factory in Ajax during the war.

Her love of knitting, crocheting, and sewing, was evident as she volunteered with her niece Darlene for “Darlene & Friends”, sending over 1200 knitted bears and handmade crafts to developing countries. She spent many years cooking and baking for church suppers, and loved entering food and flower contests at the Brooklin Fair. Her family was always first, and she loved dinner at the “dining room table” with the “entire” family. Her humble, kind heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Visitation and funeral services will be held at Barnes Memorial Funeral Home, 5295 Thickson Road North, Whitby, Saturday February 25, 2017, Visitation 11:30-1:00, Funeral Service at 1:00 with a reception to follow. Interment at Groveside Cemetery, Brooklin.

If desired memorial donations to the Humane Society or the charity of your choice in memory of Dorothy are much appreciated by the family.
